Scheme certificate is a certificate issued by the EPFO under the Ministry of Labour, certifying the service rendered by the employee with details of last drawn Pension Fund qualifying salary, name of spouse and names and dates of birth of children who are entitled to get pension in the case of death of the member holding the certificate. If you opt for "yes" you will not get refund of the 8.33% being paid by your employer towards Pension Fund but instead you will get a certificate above mentioned. This certificate can be surrendered to the PF when you get another job and by doing so your service of 2 years will get added to that service. Obviously, your pensionable salary and pension will depend upon the length of service you have in total including your service carried forward now. On the other hand, by opting "No" you will get the refund of pension fund but the service of 2 years will be lost.

If you wish to get scheme certificate in lieu of withdrawal benefit, you should give attach copies of the birth certificate of your children. As already stated, in case of death of a member holding scheme certificate, the spouse and children will get pension. The pension children is available till they attain 25 years of age and that is why date of birth certificates are required to be attached along with scheme certificate.
