Dear Sir, Ours is a very small & compact company in New Delhi with 10-12 staff. We work for half day on every saturday of the month. My query is if a staff takes full day leave on Friday and half day leave on saturday, and resumes duty on Monday. Will it be treated as 2 days leave or 1 and half day leave. Kindly advise. Thanks, pronoy

Hi Pronoy, For me it is difficult to answer your post but what i think is- you calculate their absence on hour basis. With Regards Mr.Thumbs Up

I think that your establishment is covered by the Delhi Shops & Est Act,1954. The weekly holiday mandated by the Act is one day in a week. But it is discernible from your post that you are allowed an additional holiday of half a day in every Saturday. Therefore, the whole day leave availed on Friday and the half a day availed on Saturday the other half of which is an usual holiday has to be reckoned as one and a half day leave only.

Dear Pronoy,
As per the S&E Act, 1954, every worker should get an off for every 48 hours of work. This is mandatory. In your case you have the privelage of availing half day holiday on saturday. Hence your employee leave is counted as one and half day leave only.
The leave is always calculated by prefix and suffix.. For instance, the employee availed leave on the last working day of the week and present himself on the first working day of the week, then his leave is to be considered only on the absent (leave) day.
If the employee fails to present himself on the first working day of the week, then sunday also to be considered as his leave day counting from saturday, sunday and monday....

You are being paid full salary for Saturday also inspite of the fact only half day working is allowed. Thus if you take Friday and Saturday two full days leave will be considered.

Every company has differ leave policy, as you mentioned your staff working working at Saturday only 1/2 day so calculated leave should be 1 + 1/2
