Hi Seniors
Would like to ask one thing which I have observed in my company. I am working in a Top IT company having total 1.5 years of experience.
What I have observed that the tem members don't like to help others . They hide their initiatives, or If they have some good information on some topics. Or if they know something good. I am very extrovert, I asked them that why they are hiding this things from me or why they are not making me understand all those things. They replied that if they will let me know then what will be their use in the organization.
Seniors, Can you please throw some light on this ?

No one wants to degrade his value, everyone wishes that his importance be there in the company. In colleges we can find friends who tell that they have not studied a thing, inspite of mugging up the whole night. :wink: :wink:
That is because they fear, if some one else acquires what they know, then their importance would be reduced, this is a general human tendency, nothing to do about it. This behaviour can also be found in animals while eating, even if they are friends, while eating if some one comes near them the dogs Grrrrr, because they think that someone will take their food.
Its normal , and every human does, it some exceptional persons like to give everything and are not concerned about their importance , they dont behave like u said.

Why we people are giving advices to others ?
Why we are helping others?

Bcoz we dont know each other,,, and we need some help from unknown person,,, mostly the questions people ask here they can ask the same ques to their collegues and seniors but they dont ask,, bcoz they think wat my colleague , senior will think,, if i do this , ask this etc...

I congratulate all the people in CITEHR who are shearing good informations
we all are learning new things .Yes you need heart to share your hard work with someone .There is lot of insecurity in jobs thats why they just don't make you part of it

i agree with "HR for HR".... there are some things that are not supposed to be shared where as somethinga that are meant to be transparent... if required your senior will tell you what the matter is if not required the senior will not...
do not let this get on the way of ur performance..

Hi Junior,

This situation is puzzling you coz you are probably at a starting stage on the learning side. Few years down the line you wld probably be doing the same thing as your seniors!1 :lol:

This situation arises when the Mgmt is not very encouraging towards team work. In your organisation probably there is recognition for any individual who comes up with brilliant ideas or out of the box thinking. In such an atmosphere every individual aspires to figure out innovative things on his own and present it to the Mgmt. Whereas if the Mgmt allots assignments to a set of team members and encourages the team as a whole to present their ideas it wld lead to an open atmosphere where everyone participates. The Team Leader will freely project the whole group.

It may take some time for you to perceive the working culture in the Organisation. If opportunity arises, you cld voice your thoughts in appropriate HR forums (without rubbing the feelings of higherups/ Mgmt though). For the immediate present you cld try to assure your immediate supervisors that your keen on learning not on overtaking!!!!

Finally, remember, these are all my perceptions..

Ofcourse I am very junior in the industry.
But one thing I would like to share to all of you. I might be wrong as I am very junior to all of you.
There are two types of skills.
One which is your skills because of which u recognized in the job / industry. But there are other skills which one out of 5 everyone knows.As I am junior, I have to learn all the things and what I think you should share the second one skills. Because It becomes the responsibility of the team member to make them ( New joinee / fresher) understand the basic things which can be required. And If they are not doing so Then I will say it is Wrong.
I have learned all the things which I was seeking from them. Some from my frieds and most of them from you senior people.
I will try to change this culture when I "ll reach at that stage.
