If an employee rejoins an organisation within 180 calendar days after resignation,it is said most of the time the salary will remain the same as on the termination date. If it is so, does the employee is eligible for annual review or appraisal? Does any organization gives a hike of 3-5% for a rehire and holds the appraisal for the next calendar year? What does "eligibility for the Board of Trustees’ approved annual increase will apply as though there were no break in service" mean with reference in performance appraisal?

Dear Gomathy Arunachalam,
When an employee resigned from any organisation there is no more relation with the same organisation, if he happens to join in other organisation, considering the pay and allowances rest on the new organisation and not it is a mandatory issue to consider the previous employment pay otherwise it really felt so. However, every industry want to fix salary and perks higher than the one drawn earlier with the truly hoping a better improvement and impact in the newly joined company based on the experience and commitment, trust etc., it is the prudent issue and cannot be fixed simply with the salary etc., of previous organisation. It is also a fact that there is no criteria of 180 days because the employee have to be selected with appropriate recruitment method.
best of luck...

First please tell us why you are asking this question
Are you rejoining a company ?
Are the HR where someone is rejoining ?
Did the company ask for rejoin or the employee failed in other job and is wanting to rejoin.
Incomplete questions and those without proper background will rarely give you an accurate answer

Dear Gomti,
In case an employee has tendered the resignation and the same has been accepted by the management further employment, if any, in the same organisation shall be considered a fresh appointment and all attendant problems shall be tackled accordingly.
Thanks and regards

It purely depend upon the terms mutually agreed between the Interviewer and the Interviewee, please consult their view first.

Once the employee resigned and relieved, the re-appointment again by the same employer can be considered
on its merits. The employer may take him at lower salary also and may regret. Generally once relieved will
not be considered to join again in the same company. If the candidate changes his mind and wish to join
the company the employer can dictate terms and even offer less pay. It all depends on the luck of candidate.
