Hi All,
I am facing a problem related to Induction. Please advice.
Whenever new joinee joins in I have to introduce him to Team head and to few relevant people. Now there are some people who actually find it offending and say they should also be introduced by person. We have an induction mail going to staff for this purpose but they insist on personally being introduced. Do u think its possible to introduce a new joinee by me (ONLY) to 77 employees in a single office PERSONALLY!

Hi,
Even I faced the similar problem.
Answer is simply DEPENDS on the way you handle the Induction program.
It will be done effectively depending on the team and organisation culture.
If find mostly two kinds of org's --- 1) which run by the policies and 2) which run by the people.
Now you decide where to wrap up the things to grab your hand.

I am into IT organization. I have a simple question for you guys:
Is it possible taking that individual to everyone in the organization personally. Isnt there a better way to have Induction. I told you we have induction mail going out to all staff members.
Please guide

I think introducing 77 people personally is a sheer waste of time ! and not reqd at all.Your induction/introduction mail is enough...

My guess , is that those people who object and say that they should be personally introduced are the ones who think they are imp in the organization and when you don't introduce them they feel their importance is undermined.... .A few q's here -

1.How many of such people are there? If only a handful maybe you could say peace and introduce them.

2.If you don't feel they should'nt be introduced ...what's the reason?

Be firm with them or pass the buck to a person senior to them saying he/she will introduce you when and if relevant.(resort to this only if you can't handle them by yourself)

3.ask these people who want to be introduced to lunch with the new joinee in the first week so they get introduced and feel important too....you could infact tell these people pls i am abnking on you ...its your responsibilty please take them out for lunch

Thanks a lot. I think this is perfect. there are only handful of them only but the prob was if I started introducing to them then other colleagues will feel offended. I think asking other team members to get her introduced is a nice idea and will implement that, if I intriduced a new joinee any of the team head, he should atleast can do it for the team members.
Hope it would be fine.

Dear Cheena,
If its a big numbers, then we have to think of it. I hope 75 no's is not a big deal, being a HR person, you should take up the initiative to introduce to all the employees. It is very much needed to the small organisations like yours. which create a sense of small family - whcih indirectly influence towards less attrition, team spirit etc.

Meeting the employees personally in an induction, doesnt mean to meet all of them in a single day.. It can be done atleast 4 a week and that fellow can be introduced to 1 or 2 departments on each day.
That can solve the problem to a certain extend.

Dear Friends,
i have a small idea for you.
Introducing a new cadidate to all is must. But the thing is as the number is more its wast of working hour. so here is a small suggestion.
v will b conducting bday party in our organization.During that time u can also spend some time for these new persons who have joint recently and introduce them to all at once when all r together ask them to cut a small cake. which all others feel very happy and which they don't forget.
All the best.

I think introducing to 77 employees is not a big task. Even our company strenght is around 75 and we do it everytime when candidate joins. It just take 20 min. Its really important to introduce new joinees to all the employees.
