JCB loader/backhoe allows hoisting of load using the hook attachment per enclosed doc – (JCB Backhoe Loader page#8 Tipping link/Lifting hook).

My question was - Can we use a certified shackle in lieu the hook attachment to hoist a load on JCB (See the attached doc - Using Certified Shackle on JCB - Sample).

In JCB manual its clearly states the sentence (See attached document page #8) – ‘’Enabling machine to crane or lift materials, such as piping and girders. 1-tonne or 2-tonne lifting hooks available’’ is there any specific reason why they mentioned only ‘’hooks’’ on this manual instead of shackle/hooks.

If you can provide any written documents which says we can use shackle it will solve our issue. I am sure there is a specific technical reason beyond that.

Note: Last 30th I sent this query to JCB manufacturer but I haven’t get any response yet. Two days ago again I sent an email to JCB manufacture headquarters in England no response yet. I spoke that guyz in England but I don’t have a chance to chat with tech rep from JCB on this matter (Only dealers number available in website – Nowhere I cant find tech rep number or email on website)

If you guyz can find the written answer it will be a great help for me.

Team,
I was able to speak with a contact at JCB Global (UK) and discussed the use of clevises or shackles. He confirmed that use of such attachments is a common rigging technique.
JCB has attached the “Lifting” section from their guidance manual as confirmation that this is a standard practice.
Happy to share with our team.
