Hi All,

ESI News

Increase in Average Daily Wage Limit from Rs. 50/- to Rs. 70/-

Amendment of Rule 52 of the ESI (Central) Rules, 1950

The average daily wage limit for exempting the employees from payment of employees share of contribution has been increased from Rs. 50/- to Rs. 70/- per day, with effect from 1/8/07.

Accordingly all employees whose wages excluding remuneration for over-time work, is less than Rs. 70/- per day are not required to pay employees' share of contribution.

This will not affect the employer's share of contribution.

Regards,

Amarnath
