Dear Trupti,
Training your managers on "How to Conduct Performance Appraisal (PA)?" may not help. You need to institute comprehensive Performance Management System (PMS) in your company. PA is part of PMS.
In my one and half decade into the training, I found there is lot of misconception on PMS. Yes, includes MNCs as well. Mere managers having knowledge is not sufficient. You need to train your entire staffs. PMS gets defeated since staffs do not have adequate knowledge on PMS. They should know how to set their own goals. They should know for which goals importance needs to be given. Managers should only vet their work.
When the staffs are not adequately trained, what if managers thrust goals on subordinates and it fosters the disgruntlement?
