Hello
I am working in UAE. I want to know whether salary received in UAE is taxable in India for the AY 2013-14. I left india on 12th october, 2012.
Whether there is any legal requirement for filing income tax return regarding salary received outside india (UAE). and under which form (ITR -1 or ITR-2) return need of be filed.
Thanks for your time.

Hi,
Yes, immaterial where you work in India or aboard, it advisable you file your returns regularly.
Having said that, you will have file returns for your income earned in India for Financial Period 2012-2013. Collect your Form 16 from your last company in India for same.
For your income earned in UAE, since these account less than 180days, you would need to consult CA to understand how it will be treated. If you are on work visa, I guess you will get exempt. Otherwise, it will be taxable.
ITR1 and ITR2 have their own meaning and you need to understand them better. Just search on Internet and you will get 1000s of website explaining the meaning of both forms.
In short, I will tell you if you have any residual income like FD interest, Rent from property, income of selling shares, income from other business etc etc, you will need to file returns using ITR2.
All the best

Hi,
I am Salaried employee. Usually I deducted taxes from my Salary on monthly basis. When I verified my Form-26AS, it's showing that only 11 deduction has been submitted but Form-16 is showing all 12 deduction (Deduction of July-12 is missing). For this discrepancy, I contact my account division but they told me that they had submitted it. Till Form-26AS is showing 01 deduction missing.
1. Can I file ITR as Form-16 and Form-26AS is not matching in terms of Tax and gross salary?
2. In IT Department, to whom I have to contact for this problem?
Thanks in advance
