From India, Vellore
Dear Umamaheswari
It depends on Type of Leave availed and compnay's Leave rules.
Generally for CL the weekly off and Festival Holidays will not be counted to count the leaves for rest of all such offs are to be considered for calculation of leaves availed by the employee.

Hi Umamaheswari,
It depends on the company leave policy.
If as per the policy, weekends and holidays falling within the leave period is not taken into consideration for calculation of total leaves then it will not be counted. In rest cases it will be taken into consideration.

Dear Umamaheswararaju, You should read India Services Leave Rule 1955,where you can clarify each and every type of query regarding leaves. I hope this information can help you in future too.

If Sunday appears between the leave dates then that Sunday also considered as leave or loss of pay. Because, salary will be calculated for 30 or 31 full days in a month. So if you are continuously present for work then you will be paid for whole 30 days and if you take 15 days leave which including 2 Sundays, then those Sundays also considered for leave or loss of pay.

I also agree with Mr. Shailesh. This is the normal leave rules in Govt and PSUs.

Dear Umamaheswararaji,
My view is different than others.
The long leave is called as privilege leave or leave with wages. Those leaves are granted under FA in case FA is applicable else under S&E Act.
Under FA you are entitled for one day leave for every 20 days of working. Under S&E Act 21 days leave with wages are given annually.
In case of daily rated workmen employed in factory, the 20 days of working are actual working days. In this case, intervening Sundays or weekly offs which are unpaid, are not treated as leave with pay.
In case of monthly rated employees, leaves are calculated on total days of working including Sundays / weekly off days which are paid to them. In this case, intervening Sundays / weekly off days / holidays are treated as leave with wages.

Dear Mr. Umamaheswara Raju
I totally agree with Mr. K. Keshav. The Long Leaves are called as "Privilege Leaves" other leaves like Casual Leave and Sick Leave are subject to conditions of Company and as per their Leave Policies.
The Casual Leaves and Sick Leave if sanctioned for a longer period as you said for 15 days and the intervening sunday's and holidays are also counted as Leaves. If leaves are not in credit then the balance days will be treated as loss of pay or leave without pay.
The previlege leaves are mandatory as explained by Mr. K. Keshav. When a person is availing privilege leaves, the sundays and holidays are not counted as leave.
Hope this clear now.

Dear Subbarao ji,
Let me correct you what I said.
I said in respect of daily rated employees intervening Sundays / w.off days shall be treated as Sundays / w.off days (not as leave) and in respect of monthly rated employees intervening Sundays / w.off days shall be treated as leave.
It is the duty / function of HR to keep all such rules and regulations in black & white in the form of HR Mannual so that there is no ambiguity.
