can any one help me to know about EDLI and is there any provision for exemption from EDLI?
From India, Bhubaneswar
Hi EDLI is called as Employee Depository Linked Insurance. It is as good as Insurance for employees. If your organisation has any Insurance benefits then it can be exempted. Else it is mandatory

THANK YOU JP BUT THE SCHEME SAYS Us 17(2) THAT ANY COMPANY CAN TAKE THE EXEMPTION IF THAT COMPANY PROVIDES SUITABLE SCHEME FOR THE EMPLOYEES MORE THAN EDLI.
OUR COMPANY HAD ALREADY TAKEN THE EXEMPTION BUT CAN I KNOW THAT WHETHER STILL OUR COMPANY IS PAYING EDLI OR NOT?

EDLI is exampled from P F O, means EDLI is to be paid at LIC for account no.21 and Ac no.22 is .005% to be paid at PF in P F Challan.

You have to take a LIC policy in lieu of EDLI to claim exemption from paying contribution to PF

EDLI can be paid either with EPF or any other scheme that matches with the benefits provided by EPF. If EDLI is not maintained with EPF, companies can subscribe with LIC by getting exemption certificate from the relevent authority.
