Dear Annie,
I am in HR only. At the time of joining I filled Form 1.1 There were many PF audits by PF officers and no such issue was raised and in my knowledge there are some companies who are following such practice.

Dear Anshu,
Yes, PF can be deducted if you want so even if your basic salary is more than INR 6500/-. But in some cases, if the basic salary is more than INR 6500/-, employers / HR calculate the PF assuming the base salary INR 6500/- only.
In your case, if the PF is being deducted, it would be effective from the date of 1st deduction only.
You should must consult your HR for any further clarification.

Dear Anshu,
As you have explained that you want PF to be deducted from your salary although you are working since 3 years. If PF is being deducted from your salary, it will come in effect from the date i.e. the particular month from which the deduction will start.

Dear Anshu,
Please understand deduction of Provident Fund above the basic of Rs. 6500/- is an optional choice on the
part of an employee. Now if you want to opt out of the PF the company has to take a declaration form from you that you are opting out of PF and will not be contributing.
First check did you fill up such declaration form?
Now also you can become a member of PF. But if you have given a declaration then your membership will start only from the day you opt for deduction. For this you will have to once again provide some forms which your HR can guide you.
The other option is open a Public Provident Fund account in SBI and regularly deposit the amount of PF. It will earn good returns and you will also have tax free income at the end of the 15 year period.
Also please note the New Employee Pension Scheme requires minimum ten years of continuous membership with contribution to become eligible for pension and other benefit.
I suggest read the EPFO website and gain more information on the same.
All the best.

Dear Mr.Anshu
Since your Basic at the time of joining was Rs.6500/-, you were treated as an Excluded Employee as per the EPF Act and no Contributions might have not been deducted.
Now, if you want to PF to be deducted, it is possible when both you and your Employer have to forward Willingness Letters for coverage under the Act requesting the EPFO for deducting PF contributions and can be paid along with other PF members of your company.
