Recently we had an unfortunate incident of contract emplyeee getting severly injured in one of our plant(outside Maharashtra). He was shifted to Mumbai for better treatment. however, he died of injuries. Factory Inspector has come for the inspection and inquery. He is asking for Post Mortem report. Though PM was done in Mumbai, the report was sent by Mumbai police to the police station of plant location and is not available with us. Are we responsible for collecting the same from local police or Factory Innspector can get it directly from them? Also, what all documents are required to be produced for this inqueiry?

Dear Rahul
You have to collect the copy of the PMR from the Mumbai Police Station. If you take care of them, surely they will give you a copy of the PMR. In this matter, please for heaven sake, do not see who is responsible. Because you need to submit those for Insurance claim purpose and a copy to Factory Inspector (for closing the issue) and even you can assist the family of the deceased, by providing a copy of the FIR, PMR, Inquest Report/PanchNama, Compensation paid acknowledgement copy.
