Hi chitra
CL is also called as Casual Leave. Those are been availed one unplanned occasions. It is given as 10 or 12 per annum. If management is willing might be even more. If any employee is not availing those leaves in that calendar then those CL will be lapsed.
EL (Earned Leave) is mandatory as per statutory laws on both factories act and Shops & commercial establishments act. It is calculated as 1 leave for 20 days he/she worked. If any employee is not availing those leaves in that calendar then those El either shall be carry forwarded to next calendar year or Leave encashment shall be paid.
Once again based on the company policies you can treat max of cl in a row is 2 or three. Most of the organisations will treat as max of 2 and few companies will treat for 3 as CL

Dear Chitra,
We can call earned leave as privilege leave, PL/EL leave generally be given to the employee of around 12 days in a year basis of the employee must complete 240 working days in the year. EL will applicable to all type of industry.
CL can or cannot be provided by the company its based on the hr policy manual. In our organisation we are providing 6 days as casual leave for the year.

Hi Dhivya. If I am not wrong I feel EL/PL is 1 leave for every 20 days worked. it should be not less than 14 EL per annum.

Hi Chitra,
I agree with Mr. Jeevarathnam.. In my company also we are following the same...
EL/PL: In case of PL,1 PL will be credited for every 20 physically present days for employees. This can be carry forwarded to next year also. But depending upon company policies, it will be lapsed once the total PL days is accumulated to 90 days(Usually). You have to utilize a few or you can encash it.
CL: In our company, for every 30 days 1 CL day is credited and totally 12 days CL per year is available. Maximum 3 days CL continuously can be applied if available in his/her credit.

Bharghavi

Dear Chitra,
If the strength of your organisation is 10 or more workmen with the use of power/ 20 or more workmen without use or with use of power is considered as manufacturing company. if your's is manufacturing company then its compulsory to provide EL to employees, CL is not at all an issue but EL is great issue.
Inform to your top level management and arrange to provide EL to all employees.
