Dear Friend,
As expressed, it all depends upon the local environment. In our industry we declare holiday from 6.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. as our is a continuous process industry with staggered holiday system. Wherever the staggered system is not there, the Management discuss with the union to compensate the bundh day's work to some other weekly holiday i.e. they have to work on some other weekly off day.
If they have not turn up for work, many managements cut their wages as No work, No pay principle.
This is for your information.
