Dear Ms. Kiran,
LTA- Leave Travel Allowance.
Ya. it varies from company to company depending on the Policy of the Organisation.
As per the appointment letter agreement after completion of 1yr an employee will be eligible for LTA. To avail this employee have to take leave of 5-7 days, and have to show his ticket of travelling(in some companies), some companies grant LTA only after showing leave of 5-7 days minimally.
Usually it is 4 or 5% of Basic and DA any any other allowances to retain the employee.

Dear Kiran,
My friend Mr. A has clearly pointed to your query.
In addition to this, i would like to state and explain more on this topic..
LTA is given so that employees can take Pls and spend some time with their family or loved ones at their native place / hometown.
The number of PL to be taken to claim LTA depends on Company's leave policy.
In many companies, LTA is given as 1 month's basic. In other companies, LTA is given as per the designation and company policy.
The eligibility of claiming LTA again depends from Company to Company. Usually it is a standard practice in most of the companies that employees are eligible for LTA after successful completion of the 1 year in the organization from the date of joining. To claim the LTA, employees do not have to submit the proof. Employees can claim LTA once in 2 years.
