HI AVS,
What a probing quotation and that too from Albert Einstein!!
It also speaks about our mind which is vacillating like a monkey and doesn't stick to one thing. If you go on to tie with people, they may influence, change your mind, bring interruptions in your work, put you down, discourage, use negative tactics to divert you, compare you and your achievement with others who are better than you and criticize, etc. If you get tied with things it will increase your attachment to that object (as Lord Krishna rightly says in "Gita") and you may not progress in your work/goal. So the best way is to have a goal before you which stares at you and you will be motivated. You should never lose sight of your objective. Tying to a goal can make you work hard, struggle to achieve the desired results, etc.Goal will often remind you to work hard to reach the goal. It will serve as a yardstick. You will know where you are. Hence these words by Einstein.
