A process of employee separation initiated and executed by an employer in viable economic conditions is called Termination. The entire act is defined as Termination of Employment. It is called differently in different countries and cultures. Other relevant terms are – sacking, firing, dismissing, etc. An employee or a team or the entire department can be terminated. In countries and cultures where “Employment at will” is not a common practice and the phrase is not mentioned in Letter of Appointment, there must to be specific reasons for termination.

There are few behaviors and acts of employees that attract immediate termination from employment, while there are certain other activities and manners that needs to complied over a period of time before initiating the process of termination. Following acts and behaviors of employees attracts termination:

1) Poor performance

2) Willful act of damaging office properties and assets

3) Indiscipline – Late coming, absenteeism, uninformed and frequent leave, long breaks, etc.

4) Insubordination

5) Sabotaging the project

6) Using company clients and vendors for personal gain

7) Willful and repeated acts of not complying with company policies, rules and processes

8) Seeking sexual favors from employees of organization or sexual harassment

9) Portraying tarnished image of the company or negative branding

10) Accepting bribe, in cash or in kind, from clients of the company or vendors, to give them privilege or undue favors

11) Willful acts of going-slow or illegal strike

12) Abusing your seniors and colleagues

13) Coming to workplace under the influence of liquor or drugs

14) Representing the company on public forums without any appropriate permission

15) Acts of misrepresentation, fraud and cheating to seek employment and financial favors
