I am an HR of a 50 employee company and I head the department. Till now we don\'t have punching card system to track In and Out time of employees. The problem with implementing this system is the malpractices of employees. They can carry their colleagues card and punch even he comes late or leaves early. What can be another solution for tracking it instead of having a punching card system.

you can use manual register for attendance as per govt. law. in this register have In and out time column so you can take the data from the register and update in the excel sheet.

Yes we are planning to have bio-metric machine from august end as we are shifting to new building increasing the team size. But just for remaining two months I need have some other solution !

You put signature register at security gate all employees put signature at the time of in & out in presence of security. You will make a policy regarding in & out time. in which you mention in time limit, after that time in time may consider half day absent. those left early may be consider half day absent.

Mr. Sathish is absolutely right. You can use only thumb impression punching system to track in or out time. In that case no body can show presence of other employee.

What sort of business your company is into? Can you shift to PIECE RATE SYSTEM? What is really important is whether the employee is completing the work assigned to him in the assigned time or before the assigned time. You need to develope KRA accordingly. These "in... out" serves the purpose at security agency kind of business where presence is the crux. Please decide by yourself if your company is ATTENDANCE driven or WORK driven.
