Hi all,

...........The multiple identities a section of BPO employees are asked to assume seem to be causing psychological problems for some of them, industry experts say. BPO employees are expected to make appropriate changes to their accent, name and their personality so they are able to converse with a person sitting in Idaho, Texas or Boston. Dr Liam Brown, a medical doctor and now CEO of Integreon, a BPO firm, says, “At an age when you are unsure of yourself, if somebody asks you to don another personality, it may have a long term impact on the psychological makeup of people.” Some of the impact of this corporate sponsored multiple personality may now be manifesting itself at the work place. One of the side effects of this is that a small section of employees may be losing sight of what is ethical beahviour. For instance, stealing corporate databases or information is not seen as a crime by these employees. First it is not something tangible that they are stealing but a list of names and ! numbers, second they can blame it on their office personality for stealing and thus avoid any responsibility of theft.

Happy to meet you atomleaf. You have posted a very burning issue. But in a give and take situation one who has greater control over the resources and less anxiety will have edge over the other who is having less control over resources and has more anxiety.
Can anything be done? Let us ponder.

Hi atomleaf,
As Dr. Ji said its a burning problem these days. Even I ahve many of my friends and colleagueshaving these kinds of problems, as on ethics , yes it does effects the behaviour,
I have heard them saying " we have to smoke coz there is so much pressure, so much of hard work then to stay awake at night etc. etc. , on asking them to avoid smoking. "

Hello ,
This is seen among most of ITES employees.I think there can some initiative from the organisations to help employees come out of it.Also theer is a tremendous effect on the physical health of the employees as well due to the so called Grave yard shifts. As this industry is booming and brings a lot of employment opportunities these limitates needs to be minimised to the extent possible.
Thanks for sharing a valid info.

Mr. Arbuthnaught saw that Mr. Abracadabra's son is making nuisance while standing. Mr. Arbuthnaught went to complain it before Abracadabra and found that he is making nuisance while whirling. Mr. Arbuthnaught then went to Abracadabra's father and found that he is making nuisance over himself.
Where will Mr. Arbuthnaught go then? Everywhere herapheri.

Hai to all,
yup i also agree wiyh this. Its actually vreating the problem multiplie personality. At times these guys they forget that they are Indians and they leave in the fools paradise that they are Americian.Even thses poor chaps are not at fault, they are workinh whole night, morning they sleep like any thing and in the night again rush .
They are paid so hefty sal;ary that they over spend the money and dont even realise the importance of the money.at the age of 20-21if one is earning 10-14k without any further qualification it actually makes hell lot of difference.
These guys they party a lot, fagging and bosing is part of their life.
They talk, dress up ,think and dream as if they are Americians.
some thing has to be done to take them out of this non existing paradise.

Namaskar Promila ji,
I am too very much in favour of constructive empowerment. But the social climate of our time is very much polluted. What can be done? On our contemporary social climate will you please look and respond to the following thread?World social forum vs. World economic forum?
