hi i am working in a govt PSU. i have just completed my probation period. before joining i was studying for my post graduation course , completed the duration of training , but could not give the final exams. Now i want to take extra ordinary leave for 6 months and prepare for the exams. Is it feasible or permissible to take such kind of leave? our company manuals does not mention about extra ordinary leave.

Dear euthanasia
Please approach your HR Department. They can only guide you in this aspect.
Normally extraordinary leave is given for Participation as a player in Internation Sports Events or any special Occasion.
Please check it with your HR Department and enquire about the Study Leave Options.
All the best

Hello euthanasia,
Like S. Bhaskar mentioned, check with your HR/Personnel dept.
Further to what he mentioned, I think you also need to be practical/realistic. Why do you need 6 months leave just for Exams? How many days would the exams last--maybe at the most a couple of weeks. Even preparation can be done in-parallel even while you are in duty--in the evenings/nights. Unless you put in the MAX efforts within the permissible circumstances, there's no way you can convince anyone about the reason for your wanting leave.
By projecting illogical/inaccurate timeframes, you are only allowing yourself to be targeted for possible misuse of any leave granted.

Generally sabbatical leave would be available only after 5 years of work. But it depends on HR and your manager. If you are relatively new, chances are it will be disallowed

Hello euthanasia,
Generally Extra Ordinary Leave is provided / granted to an employee, when there is no other alterantive leave are in credit of the employee or either the employee has availed more number of days without any reason. EOL is upto the discretionary poiwer of the granting authority.
Hope i have cleared u r doubt upto some extent
