i dont know the exact history about how hrm came but i know somethings about it. the top management of the organisation thought that people is also an asset for the organisation. so they thought to put a person for maintaining and to know the difficulties of the people. the appointed person is a hrm.

You can easily get history from this site by using research. and other then that why HRM came is because...... there is a change in mind set of the company ... they see the employees as their one of the important asset and if they do not value their employee then definitely that employee shifted to other. so particularly handling an employee with the satisfactory manner is immensely felt important it is one of the reason behind why HRM came.
Before HRM come there is HRM but it is not develop as a functional way i.e. training given by any of the head who knows it, salary has been given by the person simply who is an owner and lots of eg are there. but, when the company grows then the importance of these all thing is also become more important. so, every company should require the department which take care of employees and manage the employees.

before HRM, PM(Personnel Management) deals with the employees in organisation, but when human beings considered as a resource which is most important rather than other resouce and who is senstive and naturally possess human right and a life full of dignity, then new concept HRM, a deptt. which is responsible for management of everything regarding human resouce working in a particular organization..one thing which i also came to know that HRM day is celebrated on August 11th every year...
