Hi Sari
I would like to know 2 things here:
1.your perception about How tough MBA is (in general) and how ICFAI is different from other universities in other words what makes you to perceive ICFAI more tougher than others. Don't you think IGNOU is tough, don't you think MBA on a University campus is touch, don't you think MBA from any B-school is equally touch. Why ICFAI alone is tough.
2. What is meant by "Tough".Any fresher feels it tough to pursue a professional degree if he/she doesn't come with some industrial background.
I am really interested to know the difference of ICFAI from that of others.
Regards.

Hi Srinivas, Gaurav..

Sowmya raised a question about distance learning from ICFAI..

I questioned her if she is from science back ground( bpc, pharma, microbiology....etc)???????

I said ICFAI, BECOZ i only know about ICFAI as i have joined last year (Iam from science background)

Now why tough...

Its tough if from science background becoz, you have to start from scratch.. module is desingened in such a way Group A consists of Business communications & Management, which is theory and you would understand.....but unfortunately the very next Group B is finance and economics.....and you have only two and half months.. for the exams...finance one has to learn from journal entries.... and it took almost a month for me to understand the concept, about balance sheet, trial balance, errors in trial balance, BRS ...all these are just in chapter one......you have 15 chapters with core finance........i almost went mad trying to understand all these in just two and half months with no assistance.........

ONE MORE THING IS ICFAI IS COSTLY (ACC TO ME ) WHICH 54 THOUSAND IS THE INITIAL FEES AND FOR CONTACT CLASSES YOU HAVE TO 5000/- PER GROUP (TWO SUBJ) YOU HAVE 8 GROUPS, CLASSES ARE ONLY TWICE A WEEK....FOR THE POEPLE WHO WORK AND TRY TO TAKE SOME TIME IS TOUGH.. EVEN AFTER ATTENDING THE CLASSES I COULD ONLY COVER THREE CHAPTERS...... SO THE RESULT OBVIOUSLY IS KNOWN...... AND EVERY TIME TO WRITE EXAM YOU HAVE TO ALMOST 1000/- PER SUBJECT.......THIS WAY YOU WILL ONLY BE PAYING FEES.....

One of my friend joined Symbiosis..... she said its damn easy.......she could clear in one attempt ( also is from science background)....she referred ICFAI material and said comparatively is damn easy......i cannot explain how easy now as i dont know much about symbiosis.......)

I didnt comment on any other university becoz they are not as costly as ICFAI.....

I NEVER TRIED TO DEMOTIVATE ANYBODY BUT DEFINITELY WANTED TO WARN THEM JOINING ICFAI .....DISTANCE LEARNING......( SPECIALLY FROM SCIENCE BCKGROUND)....

what i have been discussing is only my assumption....yes but incase if you have any suggestions for people like me who have developed phobias towards subjects......joining costly universities.......I REQUEST FREINDS TO PLEASE ADVICE.......

Hi ,
Thanks to all.
Am from B.Tech (Chemical ) background. Some of my close friends are doing MBA from ICFAI.As Sari has mentioned, the second group has more of Finance subjects. That's the reason i was in dilemma and thought , will check with someone on this.
Another reason why i opted for ICFAI is that, most of other universities like Symbiosis, has closed their admission for this academic year. Moreover, i would like to persue my career on HR-Payroll , For that MBA (HR) from ICFAI is useful is suppose. If you are aware on other universities offering MBA (HR) and Admissions still open , please help out.

Hi Sari & Soumya,

I really compliment both of you for your clarity on the concept of going for an MBA. Both of you must take this debatable issue we raised as an enlightenment to other citehr members. I really endorse Sari for your reasonable justification of your statement and I really feel pity for your helplessness in your earlier part of your MBA when you had to really toil hard with the subjects. A subject is well learned when one really struggle hard to clear the concepts of that subject. Pl don't take amiss that your friends on the cite are criticizing your opinion. Now, Soumya must be very clear in her thought to go or not to go for this Course. Nevertheless, MBA from ICFAI also is not beyond your reach and try your best to achieve this if an assured career progression is offered by them.

We in the field of career counselling & HR for quite some time encourage students to have their say on certain important aspects as freshers are always updated on the curruculum which changes very fast to keep the needs of industry on their forefront.

I once again complement both of you for getting self & mutually benefitted of your sharing information through Cite HR. Keep doing the good work and I am sure this will enable you both to achieve fast strides of progress in your career path.

Wish you good luck.

To be very Frank and Straight forward any Correspondence Course will never get the Value that of a Regular Course at leat in India and too a Private player.
Instead of spending so much of money you can actually buy these books of ICFAI or borrow it from ur Friends in ICFAI and I think that will be more Cost effective and will give the same Value Addition !
If you want to get recognized in the JOB MARKET today then go for a Regular Course as it might also have a placement assistance or an active Placement cell kind of a machinery to help you get a job with HR Profile else you might end up in a generic Profile in the so called HR Department
All the Best

hi all pls treat as v. urgent Is there is any university where we can attend weekday classes and still get the advantage of regular MBA Regards aziz
