Some simple tips to begin with:
1. Make sure you have a proper position description which sets out the requirements of the job as it is done in your organisation
2. Make sure you have a person specification setting out what skills and attributes the successful candidate needs to perform the job
3. Put together a targeted interview questionaire based on both the PD and PS, to ensure the candidates have the necessary skills to do the job and integrate into the company.
That's all there is to it. No need to complicate the process. Remember the KISS principle.
The main thing to remember is that you need do this for your organisation, not what someone else does in another organisation. Generic questions never work if you want the RIGHT person for the job.

The usual meaning is "Keep It Simple, Stupid" Basically it means keep things simple and don't over complicate them.
Here is the definition from Wikipedia:
"KISS is an acronym for the design principle "Keep it simple, Stupid!". Other variations include "keep it short and simple", "keep it simple AND stupid" or "keep it simple and straightforward". The KISS principle states that simplicity should be a key goal in design, and that unnecessary complexity should be avoided."
