If IT is doing their business with workers, employees, professionals or whatever name referred, there must be IR or Employee Relations. Moreover, there is an increasing requirements of IR in this new area of operation, perhaps due to company's attitude of free firing. It may also be due to some concessions granted by the state with regard to enforcement of labour laws and they have misused it as a right to terminate services without valid reasons either by sending the professionals out or by totally closing down the operations and getting vanished in a fine morning. Certainly, the infancy period is over and the liberalised approach is coming to an end. Therefore, in IT sector also there is scope for IR/ER professionals. I would say that this area is the core of HR though this area (Personnel Management) is considered to be in dark now a days, yet the significance of it can not be ruled out.
