We had several complaints from people/employees regarding flue like symptoms when working inside a power transformer.
The humidity is almost 0% (2 - 5%) and the dehumidifier temp set at +50 degrees.
PPE - inline respirator is out of the question.
Can someone advise me regarding this issue - Health effects, and what control measures will be advisable.

hai friend ,
what type of transformer oil is used is it a silicon based flurinated hydrocarbon or PCB- poly chlorinate biphenyls or other types .actuly PCB is now a days not in use in many countries its permited exposure limit is 0.001mg/m3. it is toxic carcinogenic type and cause accute and chronic health effects to workers .please check the oil that is in use and refer the MSDS also do a gas test by a certified gas tester oxygen first (19.5 TO 23.5%) then LEL and last for toxic gases.
For reducing temperature RELATED HEALTH problems in transformer work
use job rotation
use acclimatization metod
provide light cloured clothings and shade
cold drinking water (not highly cold )make sure to take 1 glass of water every 15 minute
proper rest intervals
provide some energy drinks (no caffeine content please )
if air line respirator can not use ;use PAPR (powered air Purifiying respirator or SCABA. if IDLH condition is present use only SCABA
health survillance for workers
proper supervision ,training and information for workers
risk assessment for work by competent person
if possible situation use LOCAL EXAUST VENTILATTION (LEV)
