Dear Seniors,

Am working for an IT concern as HR-Executive for the past 4years. Initially i was into Recruitment alone, later on my own interest i started working on Post- recruitment. Now-a-days am taking care of administration activities too(Recently i joined this company). As a start i would like to change the look of my company. Its looks so dull. Where ever i see its only Pc's, Chairs, Cupboards, wires etc. As well as i want to add few things as a part of administration activities which is useful to everyone.

Ours is a small company with 30employees. Am planning to decorate my office in such a way that it looks professional as well as attractive to all the employees. I want to give a surprise to everyone. Seniors please come up with your suggestions. Here are few that i have in my mind.
  • Placing money plants in all the corners of our office.
  • (OR) Placing a fish tank in the main hall such that its visible to all.
  • Colorful pen stand in every desk. It consists of a pen, pencil and eraser.
  • Beautiful flower vases here and there in the hall / Wall - Either plastic flowers or original ones
  • Cute tea cups each to every employee - They can have tea in their own cups instead of having it in paper cups.
  • Nice water bottles to every employee. They can fill water and place it in their table instead of running to the water area 10times in a day to drink water.
  • Providing table mats for their lunch. In such a way they dont spill food on the table.

Thanks and Regards

yes, babu you have all the beautiful things in your mind itself, infact while reading ur post I was thinking of interior change but u got it right way with less money.
and belive be a good fish tank will add on 100% beuty and life to office and it needs to be taken care evry week, menas u have to give contract for cleaning the tank and taking care of the fishes.
You can also place ancient or nature paintings, waterfalling show peices etc.
Different coloured pinboards at every desk etc.

Greetings,
Your list includes almost everything that can be done. Here's my suggestion:
Keep a board for a collage to be made by the team on the last Friday of every month. The topic for collage can be any thing right from Team goals , to Vision boards, Pictures of team members with their best achievements so far to current affairs. This can be left till the next month's last Friday. This would allow the team to bond in a very different way and add on to the cohesive feeling in the office environment.
A friend of mine who manages his workers in a plant near Chennai , had tried this idea in a manufacturing set-up with collages from newspaper. The wall that held this huge collage is one of the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in a factory. Photography was prohibited in that premises , hence couldn't click one.
We had done it repeatedly in our office. It did work. Be careful to select the topic. Wish you all the best !

Hello Babu,
Like prajaktarade mentioned: You have all the ideas ready with you. What are you waiting for? Just check your budget!!
I like (Cite Contribution)'s suggestion. Could be worth considering in your set-up. When it works in a large manufacturing setup, it should do wonders in your small setup for the general bonding of the employees.
I am not sure if your office is an enclosed place [meaning--fully air-conditioned, with all the windows closed all thru]. If it is, plants will be a very good step, mainly from the environmental aspects. Plants breathe-in CO2 & exhale oxygen during the daytime [& vice-versa during the nights]. So it adds up to the general health of the employees, ensuring the atmosphere is still fresh inside.

Dear Babu
FIrst you can paint you office with greater colour you like or in contraction with the partitions of computers
in between the partition (if space available ) place some artificial plants or hangings
IF your partitions are detachable you can make it a cell approach and mark the cells
Make a cell leader and post some white boards (smaller one) create some awareness adn joy in work with marking in the boards liek appreciation, birthday, etc.....

Hello Babu,
When I mentioned plants, what I meant was 'natural' plants--NOT 'artificial' plants.
And they needn't necessarily have to be Money Plants--they could be any potted plants too. In a way, money plants may not be practical--since they are creepers--but, if you have the place, they could be OK.

Dear Babu,
what you are trying to attempt is good one.. congrats.....along with the buget you hav to look after manpower required to fullfill this task succesfully...
for eg : if u keep want replace good tea cups with paper cups... u hav to allocate a person wash it nd safe guard it, providing the exact num of cups required...... lik the same way,. u hav to think for each action u gonna do.....
