Hello All,

Just wanted to share an Outbound Training Experience.

We were asked by a corporate in Mumbai to conduct a 1 day Outbound Training program for a group of 130 people. All Together. :)

I thought of posting this as a quick case study on large group management:

Challenges:

1. Limited Time frame - Just 8 Hours
2. Extremely Large Group
3. Well defined Learning Objectives - Listening Skills, Process and System orientation and Fun :)
4. Seniors and Middle Management with high expectations

Challenges Overcome:

1. Meticulous Planning - We all planned the event for almost 2-3 days, selecting team building activities which would create an Impact.

2. The venue and the initial group formations and 1 day prior preparation of activities were focused on and the efforts paid as the day organized right at the beginning. Remember, this step is critical for a smooth event.

2. The group dynamics were well studied. There is a complete diff between activities for youngsters and seniors.

3. Finally very strict control was required on the training day. Although the corporate group was extremely co-operative, yet the group had to be tightly managed because of its sheer size.

Results:
Well, Prashant (the Lead trainer of PraMaz Outbound) with 2 associates conducted the whole thing and I am happy to happy to say that the day went wonderfully well, with very good reviews.
Although we had to send Prashant for a day off after that. :)

Just Sharing it. Hope it would be useful for the young trainers out there.

Thanks for reading. Bye.

Dear Mr Divekar,
Thank you for your comments.
The results were all focused on even before we begun the day.
For example:
The Organisation had requested that post training the candidates should be able to appreciate the need to place themselves in customer's position. That can be achieved through imbibing in the participants the need for being attentive listeners to the consumers requirements.
The activities that we provided (I will not be able to divulge it) was of an hour long duration between 4 teams of 30 each (approx). At the end of activity, in self debrief session, almost 90% of the group themselves admitted the importance of being better listeners.
And thus the results are always in the hands of the trainer. What is important in an outbound session, is the focus on achieving the same objectives, and not just fun and frolic.
