Background:
India has emerged as one of the largest manufacturing hub in the world and is considered a favorite destination for medium, small and ancillary units, which operates on outsource mode and through employment of contract labour to meet its ever-changing demand needs and export-based market requirements. Factories employ contract labour so as to bring in certain flexibility in its operation and other cost factors.

Ignorance or deficit in understanding of the existing labour laws can give rise to unpleasant complications with all the stakeholders like workers, unions, and authorities. Rather adherence to law is always considered ethical practice in running the business. There are many labour laws, which hold the Principal employer liable for the compliance of the labour laws pertaining to their establishment, outsourced or contract employees. Therefore, a proper understanding and a timely implementation of all applicable labour laws will be in the larger interests of the stakeholders. Keeping this in mind one day workshop on The Factories Act and The Contract Labour (R&A) Act, is organized at Hubli for the professional development and best practices for the industry and their managers. This is the first of its kind, where top government officials are brining their experiences, knowledge and all the latest amendments to be shared during the workshop.
