Hi, I am working for a security agency which supplies guard personnel to various organisation. We have signed an Agreement for providing security guards to various units of the principal employer spreading various states. The total strength of contract labour is approx 500 nos.
The SG strength do not exceed more than 20 on any unit but the Principal Employer is insisting for getting contract labour licence since the agreement is signed for 500 SG. I need suggestion whether the principal employer is correct on his part.

From India, Mumbai
Hi, Whether a principle employer engaging 40 contract labours and 10 security guards in Maharashtra in a single factory is required to take registration under contract labour Act. And the contractor who has less than 20 labours in one single factory but total 55 labours cumulatively for 5 factories is required to take registration in Contract labour Act?
