hi there.
though i'm jst into my 2nd yr of MBA (HR),i'l try to share few things dat i hope wilb useful for u.
core hr is specialization in evry aspect of HR,ie,recruitment, training and development, succession planning, performance management, compensation mngmnt, industrial relations, trade union managemnt.....studyng all the hr topics in detail.
in small IT co.,HR work is mainly limited to recruitment,if u want to make a career in hr,though IT co.will give you high salaried but if u want to gain knowledge, start with some manufacturing industries.

Today there is no such term as core HR as jobs oh HR has been a highly specialized.Businesses today are focussing on devloping their HR as they are now becoming the driving factors in the growth of any organization.Reliance retail has more HR than no of employees as if the HR is capable the employees will be effective so if you see each function in HR is handled by a specilalized person if the company wants to grow.Since you have mentioned that you are single person in HR so increasing the no. of HR is again a business strategy as today HR strategies are aligned with the Business strategy and HR has become a business partner than mere support function. You can see it for yourself as the demnad for HR in organizations has gone up.

I am going for an hr (major) and IT (minor) combination. please do send some info as to whether it is a good combination or not. Regards Anjali

I am in the midst of summer internship project. My project is related to HR and am receiving a stipend of 10,000 per month. What should be my salary expectations at the time of final placements? Is this going to make some impact? Waiting for your inputs.

hi anjali
actuly i ws also opting for HR + IT,but just opted out of it.now i'm doin core HR.
wen i spoke to my faculty they said that it is no doubt a nice combination.thanks to growing IT sector.
1 drawback is that (as mentioned in erlier post also),for a fresher IT co.doesnt provide much scope, mostly it is limiited to recruitments.anywaz u can pursue ur degree..and aftr wrkng for 2-3 years in manufactuing sector u can alwaz shift to IT.let me tell you, combination of IT will get u high salaries from the beginning only.but thru manufacturing industries u'll get to start wid comparitively low salaries.
finally, pursue watevr u want to,coz scope is alwaz there,if ur heart is there.

that is a very good combination as HR is getting influenced by technology, you can see for yourself payroll softwares,SAP,ERP,Recruitment Software.....now HR has a technofunction role.HR is now trying to keep up with the business objectives all times so all its functions are aligned to business goals so for a long term career it is a worth combination.
