I am a software engineer having 2+ yrs work exp. I would like to do MBA in HR. How should I justify my transition from IT to HR? How should I answer the question "Why HR after 2 years in IT?"

before thinking about how u can convince other about ur transition from IT to HR (which is indeed quite drastic) u muust be convinced urself........in ur hearts of heart if u know that u feelll more pasionaltely about HR then it wud never be a problem in explaining othrs.........only if u genuinely and strongly feel abt it.........and if u do.........it will come across quite cleraly and effortlessly.......
if u no y u wanna switch over to HR i am sure it wud never be a problem explaining recruiters.........c its quite simple........maybe u took IT coz of family presure or maybe coz u urselff never knew that u wud enjoy HR function more.........so maybe u can say after working for 2 years in IT i realised that no IT is not what i feel passionaltely for........and i have now realised that HR is more my kinda thing........u no.......soooo
one of My HR faculty had done his MBA from FMS in marketing and worked as a marketing professional for a long time.........but later he realised that HR is more like him,,,,,,,so he switched over...........today he has more experience as an HR person......and trust me he cudnt havebeen more satisfied............if you want maybe i can try to find his phone no. and then u can talk to him.........if u want .........

But, telling just that ........conveying my interests genuinely....tat I am a people centric person.....will that be enough......i mean do i need to knw the exact functionin of HR in IT industry etc......

Hope this answer helps,u take my words,this question would definitely rise up in the interview,i have been asked this question,its not that easy to convince someone abt ur transitiion.
After completing ur degree u can say "This degree has definitely provided me with the scientific and theoretical knowledge that I needed to boost my career, and my professional decisions are more informed now"
"I wanted to diversify my interests in the corporate world with an MBA or HR"..

This is purely a matter of job satisfaction. IT skills can be utilised in HR now a days HR is growing towards north. In HR there are many fields right from initial recuitment to exit interview. Go ahead, best wishes

Your IT knowledge will be a strong resource, when you switch over from IT to HR. I have sailed from the same boat at times fearing the boat capsizing. Ney!!! it did'nt happen like that.
Just believe in yourself and your conscious will direct you to the right path. I am a multi-faceted person. I have been in IT field for a major period, then into marketing, customer service, administration, purchase, stores and today I am in HR.

see i am a student doing my regular in S.A.Enginnering college what i going to say to your question is- HR field is always right at any time, there is no problem either it is two year or tewenty years,even you can gain knowledge within completing the course, particularly MBA (hr) will gain you to understand psychometry thoughts but not any other hr fields excepts this.When you became MBA(hr) that's will give a preference to promote you esteems in your organisation,so no problem hr after 2 years in IT.
