We are moving back to India and my husband is at a stage of negotiating compensation with a telecom company. I would like to know if the perks (CTC minus Basic Salary) change from person to person for a given position in company. If person A is already working on the same position at which my husand is hired, would the perks et al will be same for both the persons.
Thanks for any response.

Hi Manika,
The CTC can vary from person to person in the same organisation depending upon last drawn salary, competency level etc. To be honest companies will always want to have the best talents at least possible CTC structures. However companies might stick to certain package details decided as per budget. EX: for HR Managers, company might fix a scale from 2.5 Lacs to 3.5 Lacs P.A. Offered salary may vary within this range depending upon certain parameters as deemed fit by the Organisation. Let me also add that for PSU's and Government bodies salary structures are not different for same positions. It is as per Government mandates.
Hope this helps!! If you differ then please let me know your opinions.

Manika...CTC is total cost to the company including all benefits and it is not a basic salary. Suppose the monthly CTC offered is Rs. 60,000/- then the actual take-home or the actual cheque will be of Rs. 45,000/- . Remaining 15,000/- will be calculated as Benefits.
There is no hard and fast rule which says that two people working in same department...at same level...having same designation...will get same salary. There are many factors that management considers...while deciding the salary package.
I hope I have answered your query.

I think Partha has replied to this question in a very precise and correct way. For a position, perks generally do not change from person to person. But salary varies within a band,as a result of which total CTC also varies within a band.
In Govt Departments also for a designation, salary varies within a band. Therefore this phenomenon is not limited to Private Companies only.
