Can you pls clarify if an employee is asked to come for work on a weekly holiday say sunday if its a national holiday too! what will be the compensation for him in the form of wages as well as comp offs

Lakshmi, If a national holiday falls on Sunday there won’t be any sought of Compensation or Compensation Off for him/her. :(

happens everywhere. there should be compensatory off. no additional wages. maybe the company will provide you free lunch and take your coming to work on holidays as a plus point in your profile and look at this positively when your appraisal comes up or when you are due for promotion.
