Dear All -Wanted to hear from those informed, of the transition of an HR professional with 4-5 years of good multi fold and funtional HR expereince, into that of SAP HR. What are the perceived roadblocks, and the prospectives...is certification helpful at this juncture etc???

The best practice before you jump into SAP is
1. Form ur own circle of SAP friends.
2. Be a member in different SAP groups.
3. Till you are placed do not exchange details of ur own circle
with anybody. The purpose is 'you better be placed then help
others'.
SAP Certification will definitely help you out, but those Institutes/ Companies which conduct training programme also sometimes give quality programme. Before joining, make sure that the consultant is not a trainee. You cannot get experts during the working hour i.e. 0930 to 1800 hrs. In certain cases you will good trainers, who are in UK/US shifts. I prefer more on quality training than SAP certification. You can study and go for certification at Singapore/USA etc and appear for Rs. 25,000/- only. Reference will take you to SAP environment. pl ask me if you want any further clarifications at

I suggest if you have a technical backgrnd, you may gof for SAP HR. But at present you complete ur MBA, nad take hardcore HR exp of 4 yrs n then move into SAP. To be a SAP functional, one needs to know in n out of each n every HR activity, step, processes.

Dear All- In india, Siemens and Genovate are the 2 best certified training centers for SAP and have locations at multiple places. The course is expensive but best done in india. In singapore, the cost of the training and certification for SAP HR is almost 16000 SGD, alomst 5 lac INR.
As for the functional experience - the moment one gets to understand the key steps in the concerned HR processes, the exposure is good enough..

I have completed Masters in Personnel Management (Pune University)this year and at present am placed with an IT firm as HR Executive. I wanted to know if there are any HR certification courses(distance learning preferably) which can be helpful in future.

- The best place wherein I can do a training / certification in Delhi region.
- For a starter in this field who has functional exp of 4-5 years, would a plain training help or certification is essential. What do you suggest.
