Hi
Any Practice that deals with enhancing competencies, commitment and culture building can be considered as HR Practice.
The Practice can take the form of system, a process, an activity , a norm , a rule,an aceepted or expected habit, or just a way of doing things.
HRD is essentially constitutes three C's : Competencies,Commitment, Culture.
I would like to invite all HR professionals to share their companies best HR practices/Initiatives.

Hi
In Interviewing
Interview over meal :
We are partially doing this when ever outsation candidates come to our corporate office for interview we take them for a meal and have discussion and i had found this quite helpful in identifying more competencies as well as people are real when they are in informal situations and candidates open up a lot.
I don't know how many people are doing this this ...

Hi,
I put Friday Forum as the best HR practice followed in our company.
On the last day of each week (i.e. Friday), there will be a small presentation by a team member. Topic of this presentation can be anything-Technical-non technical-Sports-Politics etc. This topic will be decided by individual team members. And after that there will be free informal discussion among the team that includes team leader - project manager and some times the product manager.
We found that Friday Forum has definitely helped us to find out informal leadership among the team-hidden competencies of individual team members-reduced ambiguity and work as "ICE BREAKER".
Looking for more HR practices followed by our members!

Hi,
We conduct employee hour each month, whereby the ground level (junior staff) gets an opportunity to sit with the CEO of our co. and thereby give his views, suggestions for increasing the productivity, effeciency, safety, etc.
Its the operation employees who are doing hands on job. They are the best one for having ideas for a change in a system or procedure. The minutes are tehreby complied and they are displayed at each notice board.
The participation moves on the basis of seniority basis.
You guys do you have such initiative?? would liek to know from you also what is being done at your co.

Hi,
That is a nice topic you have started, I would surely like to share things my company has designed:
We have a Learning Forum for the people, this is an online forum where the HR sends a article, presentation or anything else to all the employees, (actually ours is a sales and Marketing company so almost all the personnels are travelling 25 days a month).
I found this idea to reach to my people, once the article is shared they send their feedbacks and then every third day after the article is posted the HR person sends the summary again with the new article, ppt or anything else.
Slowly, all of them started sharing their experineces from field, HR related issues and lot many things, In six months time it was a great success.
Cheers

Hi All
I guess all the HR guys are not practicing and HR practices as there is hardly any response .
Well i can think of one HR practice for maufacturing sector which i had read in some newspaper
where in stores employees are given skating wheels to do the work because they have to frequently move a longer stretch.

Hi
Monday meetings or Saturday meetings which should be informal it should be more of PEP talk with your immediate juniors can do a good work for the rest of week - you can think and customize accordingly may be a PPT of 3-4 slides can also be used.
Normally i had seen if you are motivated on Monday then you remains motivated through out the week.

Hi,
We follow the strategy of informal meetings with all the employees to gather the information of their thought about the company.
We also conduct employee satisfaction surveys once in a while... say twice a year to find out if there are any problems faced by the employees unidentified by us.... But we make it sure that we insist them not to specify thier names on the surveys reports so that they can come out with the frank opinions and suggestions.
Please some one let me know if there are any other procedures to follow best HR practises.
