Hi All

I have been on a Fixed term Contract for the previous 4 yrs 6 months(contracts renewed yearly without breaks b/w contracts) . Recently my contractor terminatd the contract when my contract was still valid till the end of this year. The reason they gave me (verbally) was the obvious economic slowdown and the closure of the project by the Principal Employer.Having said that my contractor has issued a termmination letter without assigning any reason for the same and want me to acknowledge the termination letter for the FNF settlement. In my contract the contract termination clause is 15 days notice in writing or salary in lieu of notice, to the other. Please let me know
  • If the contractor could terminate my services without assigning a reason in writing ? Is this procedural? Incase he is obligated but not willing to do so what is the redundancy or termination benefit I could claim from the same ?
  • Are they correct in asking me to acknowledge(in writing) the termination letter for them to initiate the FNF process?
  • If I would qualify for GRATUITY as I have worked continously for 4 yrs months witout break b/w contracts?( This is not a part of my contract though)
Please advise me on any other termination benefits I would be eligible for and that I sould be aware of in this case ? Hope to hear from you all

Regards
Rakhi
