I want to know if giving PF is mandatory, we have 25 employees all drawing around 8-10000 salary. Do we have to apply for PF and if so, how much do we need to pay from employer and employee side.
From India, Bangalore
If your establishment employs 25 (20 or more) employees your establishment will be covered by EPF. You have to get your establishment PF registration. However, since all are paid salary more than Rs 6500, no employee will be covered. Please see that your Office Attender(s) and Sweeper on your roll are also getting salary above Rs 6500.

Dear sameer
As you infrom employees is more than 25, and your organization will comes under PF, now you have to get registration under PF act, and PF will calculate on Basic+DA, if Basic+DA cross the 6500/ that will left to employee
from
1) Employee side 12% EPF A/c No:1
2) Employer Side 12%,
3.67% EPF A/c No:1 &
8.33% Pension A/c No:10
3) Employer side : 1.61% (charges
a) EPF Admin Charge: 1.1% A/c No: 2
b) EDLI Charge : 0.5% A/c No: 21
c) Admin charges on EDLI : 0.01% A/c No: 22%

Hi,
In this situation you must consider one more thing. If any of the employees working in your establishment is from any other organization and having EPF Number, then you must join them under EPF Act irrespective of their wages.
In this case you can limit your contribution to Rs.6500/-

A question to Mr. Madhu and Mr. Malik, Once anyone become a member of PF; can he/she get exempted status in the future while shifting one job to other with gap of two months? Pl. suggest. Pravin

dear
when a person join new organisation ,HR dept of that organistion take form 11 from each employee which says that he was not member of PF in previous organisation.
legally ,if you have not withdrawn PF of previous employment than you should be member of PF in future organisation also but generally new organisation take form 11 from employee and donot make member if his basic is more than 6500.

Dear Friends,All of you are correct. But if the employee whos salaries are more than Rs 6500/- also can join as PF member but their contiribution may be stipulated into two accounts . Some of the orgnisations for every employees whos salaries are more than Rs.6500/-, they are deducting the PF @ Rs.780/- from their salries and depositing into PF. While doing such cases in the Form-3A they should clearly write in the bottom "EXECMPTED EMPLOYEE SO PF IS CALCULATING @ Rs.6500/- ONLY". The PF is social security of the employees every employer consider it.Regards,PBS KUMAR

Dear All
If a establishment has more than 20 employees they have to get register under PF act. PF @ 12% from basic and DA .
if the wage(Basic and DA) is equal or below 6500, the employer have to contribute the deducted amount.
if the wage(Basic and DA) is above 6500, the employer has the option to pay only 780 and not 12%.
