Hi Guys,

Hope all are well. This is my first post and i believe pretty important in my career. I m currently employed in a MNC and seeing options to move out and even got an oppurtunity with a better package. The main reason i decided to move out is because of the recognition i was given. I was given a very bad rating despite putting in the best of efforts. The company is supposedly to get a very big project in my current account and am also a main reason for this. I was involved in a business critical activity for the last 5 months and everything has gone well. And even the CFO of the clients organisation has appreciated my efforts. Now, as all the critical tasks are over , my manager is ready to dump me.

My concern here is.. Most probably the company will get the new project and lots of new oppurtunity will flourish. At this time can i go for the new offer.. without reaping the fruits of the hard work i did for the last 4-5 monts. By the way i m 3 years experienced. Awaiting ur suggestions.

Hello friend,
You have mentioned that inspite of all the good work you have been given bad rating.
You need to introspect and see if the rating is not justified and if similar behavior continues there is no point continuing to work for such an organization.
Since anyway the company has decided to "dump" you - the best thing is to look for other opportunities and "dump" this organization. Of course you need to first get the right kind of offers elsewhere.

Hi Srini,
I believe there are various reasons why you should stay with your current organization -
  • Such things like people not recognizing your efforts can & does happen in many organizations
  • You should not leave the organization without reaping the fruits for your efforts, this is like giving up
  • You need to rebounce with all your initiatives & enthusiasm, and prove time & again that there is no substitute for smart work & for you.
  • It is recession phase & you are blessed with a good job in an MNC. Risking what you have & trying for a better opportunity is not a good decision in such phase
You need to realize that you will receive advices/suggestions from all, but afterall it is your career decision, hence take time to think before you make your final decison.
Wish you a great career:icon1:

Hi,
Sometime known devil is better than unknown angel. Why shouldn't you represent your point of views to HR (hope you are not from HR Department), because at this time of recession don't rush into hasty decision.

Hi Guys,

Many thanks for all your opinions..

I would like to explain my stance here & and am really sorry am bugging you more... Think am not a "YES MAN" .. probably one of the main reason for this rating like others in the team.. I will always say "Right is right and wrong is wrong.. whoever does(even me)".. Not sure this is the way..

1. I think i need to move out because,

a. The work i did over the last appraisal period is not allowing me to continue further.. As guys who sat idle got better ratings than me.. It has really hurt my motivation.. After all everyone works for "output" in one form or the other.
b. My manager should not come to a conclusion that i am a dead duck and whatever ratings he gives i will stay on.. Because of recession and stuff.. Think i have the talent to survive anywhere..
c. The project that may come because of one of the reason's being me is a multi million project and will surely make the accout, the biggest in the company.
d. And i too had the opinion of speaking with the HR.. But not sure whats the right way as this is a very big company with more than 50,000 employees.. Am not sure he/she will be even ready to meet me.. Telling.. me being emotional...
e. I have got a better offer from one of the competitors.

2. Why i need to stay on..

a.Heard lot of stories(Supposedly True).. like a fighting warrior.. getting success at the end.

And guys, whatever i do.. i am sure i need make a point here..

Awaiting your suggestions..

Regards,
Srini.

If you have tried all the possible ways to fix this issue and strongly feel that it's things have gone beyond control, then probably you should step out.
Anyway you have already got an offer with their competitor which is quite good ,hope they would appreciate your good work and very soon you see success.

Hi Srini,
I suggest you to make amove from this company, where there is no motivation. Iwouldn't have said this to u if u dont have otehr opportunity in ur hand. But, you got it right..then y r u waiting for.....
before joining enquire abt that company, where u got the offer, later u shudn't repetent for this. In this recession period, if u got any opportunity then utilize that.
getting success at end and all bla bla...just good for listening... see will tell u, if u work for same company for 3 years and u wont get any recognition, again u contiue to work expecting in near future,,,,suppose after 5 years u promoted to next cadre.....WHATZ THE USE???...........
simply u wasted ur talent and precious time as well..perhaps u wouldhave utilized that some where ...where u can have scope
think again..and all the best buddy
cheers
Bunny
