Dear Members, Is Recruitment part of HR? My professor says it is part of marketing? Please give me your opinion. Rajni

Yes, Recruitment is a part of Human Resources. You can term it as a marketing of candidates. But recruitment always comes under Human Resources.

If you talk about Recruitment agency or placement consultant, their aim to recruit the candidate at clients place. It is one kind of sales. Consultant always charges XYZ amt to the client for recruiting right candidate. In this way a consultant is involved in marketing of the candidates. Main job of the consultant is Recruitment hence we can say it is one kind of marketing.

It is like we do our marketing by showing our experience, the company we are employed with and how much company spend money on us (in terms of salary) to other companies while seeking for a change.

Yes, but obvious, Recruitment is a part of HR.
Human Resource, means to hire or supply Human power (Man power), the basic part of HR profile comes recruitment. If you look from any consultancy's side or from any Esteemed Organization's side.
In a consultancy also a consultant is having a different profile and HR is have different profile.
In the above conversation, my friend Jack had explained by Marketing & Sales point of view, that's also correct, we can say by validating any candidate we are doing our Co's "Marketing" and by given profit to our Co. by placing any candidate, its a "Sale".

Yes, but obvious, recruitment is a part of HR.

Human Resources, means to hire or to appoint human power (Man power). The basic profile for a HR comes Recruitment.
HR profile also includes Training, Appointing, Maintaining candidate's performance, verifying documents, etc, etc.
The above mentioned activities can be made after recruiting an employee.

As per the above conversations, my friend Jack has consider HR activities as a Sales & Marketing profile, that's correct, at the time of validating candidate, employee does Marketing and by recruiting manpower giving sales in the form of profit.

HR of any Esteemed organization, take care all the HR activities like Training, Salary formation, fulfilling basic needs regarding manpower, candidates performance maintenance, etc, etc, these all activities can be perform after recruitment only.

So, yes recruiting is the basic part in HR profile.
