Appraisals are the most sensitive time of any organisations. And after working on it how a HR person has to be on their toes during that period. I have seen motivation levels going down so steep when any associate feels that his work had not been justified.
I have found with experience that talking to an employee about their work and providing genuine and timely feedback is crucial. Unfortunately being a time consuming process management tries to ignore it and there a HR person has to fill in..
