There should be a meeting between HR & concerned departmental heads to have a list of optimum manpower required to run the show smoothly in each department, once you land up with that, you can take an authorization from the Unit Head or the concerned approving authority so that HR can start hiring or firing as the case may be. This is how we are doing may be other members can add more into this. Regards, Pervinder No inputs from anybody? No guidance? Please..... Sdd[/quote]

HiManpower Audit is conducted to ascertain the utilization of manpower in each department/process. Example: let us take maintenance department in a manfucaturing company. Let us assume that there are 10 maintenance operators working in mechanical maintenance. The available manhours per month is = 10 X 26 X 8 = 2080Manhours actually clocked (Have to reduce the absenteeism/leave) = 2000 man hoursPreventive maintenance = 416 hoursMechanical Breakdown = 514 hoursRoutine servicing (as per log book) = 200 hoursTotal manhours effectively utilized = 1130Effective utilization of manpower in % = 54.32In otherwords, the actual effective utilization of available manhours is only 54%.Similarly the utilization in stores can be calculated based on receipts, issuies, binning etc.RegardsKalyan RChief Manager - HRSRF LimitedGummidipoondi - 601201Mobile: 919840942232
