Hi All,
Any body help me about Building & Other Construction Work Act 1996. (I was in Manufacturing Company & I am new in this type Organisation)
Our project had been completed (as Villas) in end of 2007 .Now we are in the process of Handing over the vilas to its owners. One day Asst. Director Safety & Health visited our project & was asking about Registration under Building & Other Construction Work Act 1996, and Collection Of Cess i.e 1% under Building & Other Construction Work Act 1996, We have been deposited Rs. 5000/ as Registration Fees in S.B.I and informed to Conserned Deptt. We agreed to deposit Cess. Since our project is completed now we have no more worker in our project. Now advice me it is necessery for us to deposit @85/- per workers (as worker beneficiaries all worker who was with us or with Contractors) while not a single worker with us from Dec-2007. (Our Project Started in 2004 and Completed in 2007)

Dear Ajay,
it is necessory to register the construction site under the Building....... workers Act-1996. But as you are writing here that you have deposited Rs.5000/-for registration at SBI is ambiguous. Fee should be deposited in challan(Rs.500) with Form-A (nder rule-23(1) ).
Secondly labour cess may deposited retrospectively @1% of total construction cost per year seperately e.g. if construction starts from june 2004 to agust 2007 calculate the construction cost yearly (june 2004to 2005 and onwards) and submitt it seperately to labour office but your registration under Act is mandatory.
if still you are confused mail me at .

Dear Mr. Vinod singh
I am just a new member to this site.
I need some clarification in the implementation of labour cess in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
Act of applicability has started in June 2007 in this state and is it necessary that we implement with retrospective effect from the date of construction that is in our case is the year 2005.
Please clarify
regards
THAKKAR
