I have to install emergency exit indicators in various parts of the office, to show the direction of the Emergency Exit. Don't know if there is any standardisation. I understand that the paint should be flourescent, but what about the background colour and the colour of the alphabets.

Yes. Fire Exit arrow should be in Red.

Emergency exit should be kept in open.
Emergency exit door should be outward open type.
Emergency Exit passage should not be blocked.
Above the emergency exit signage should be in dual langage (Englishe and local language)
Emergency Exit Light should be in UPS connection or battary (Emergency light).
Sufficient Emergency exit are available.
