Hello All,
We are planning to send our team members abroad.
I would like to know about the Foreign travel insurance.
What is covered under this insurance?
Is thr any difference between Overseas mediclaim policy and travel insurance?
What factors should be considered in such insurance/policy
Thanks

Hi Meghna
Travel Insurance and Overseas Medical Policy is one and the same thing. Both are synonyms. Travel insurance can be taken incase of domestic travel. Overseas itself means foriegn travel.
Both covers the same depending upon the country they are visiting, and the period of stay abroad.

Hi meghna
Overseas Medical Policy consider two factors :
1. visiting USA or Cananda
2. Other than USA or canada
There are various plans by which the amount of insurance cover differs from each other.

Hi Meghna,
Though the terms are interchengable and swapped in different context. Overseas medicalim policy is to do cover any eventuality while on trip or studying or working. Therefore accordingly it varies according to purpose as while working and studying it is imperative to take the insurance coverage, it is mandated by law in most of the countries.
Point to be kept in mind are terms and conditions, duration, exclusion, Deductibles, and of course the premium. You may decide to buy one covered by Indian companies or by host country companies.
And most important coverage of the insurance company in view of networked hospitals. Finer details like emergency evacuation, ambulance, dental, reunion, special coverage like lost baggage, sports and activities coverage (Adventure sports) etc. Also if trip includes multiple countries visit, if covered by same company or associated companies like for Europe etc.
