The rate of attrition, which fell considerably in the last two years due to the IT slowdown, is again raising its ugly head once again, say industry experts. Growth in volumes and rapid scaling up of offshore development centres (ODC) by multi national companies has once again made attrition a key issue in the Indian information technology (IT) space. Companies such as Infosys and Wipro have seen their attrition rates go up during the last few quarters. Mid-sized companies have also seen attrition go up significantly. Polaris Software Lab has seen its attrition rates go up to 14 per cent, after the merger with OrbiTech Solutions. The most obvious way companies are dealing with the rising attrition rates is through salary hikes apart from others.

Hi,
the increase in the attrition rate is not only because of the industry's growth and other monitory issues. factors like the job satisfaction, right job at the right time, position of a person in a company etc contributes much for the attrition.
If a person had been given the right job, position, responsibilities, freedom to take decisions at his level, time to show results, proper trainning etc along with good remuneration and benefits, he will never think of the other opportunity. Employer has the duty to make sure that the person is well placed in the org. based on his qualification and experience. also ensure that he enjoys the environment and other factors at the job.
please correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi,
I want to measure my company's attrition rate against the attrition in the IT companies. Could anyone pls guide me with the source where the attrition rates are published every year. Even better if I can get a monthly data on the same.
Thanks
Neelima
