Dear shweta,
Many fnds gave different type of views. As employee in that position think you first. Sunday is a causal holiday. how did u count the leave. In employee's view sunday is a holiday if applying leaves on saturday and monday, in between the sunday is advantage of leaves. such that the view is ur's , mine and all of us.
so finally you consider the 2 days leave only

This issue is not regulated statutorily. Every employer can have an independent policy/leave rule either providing for counting the intervening Sunday as leave or excluding it from the spell. I may add for information that, the Central Government Leave Rules provide for including the intervening Sunday in the spell.

its depends on the company policies...
in our company if someone is taking leave on Friday (we have 5 working days a week), and not able to come on Monday, so all 4 days will be count as leaves.
Thus, even if that employee took leave of 1 day, it will be converted 4 days leave in order to not coming on Monday! this we use to call "Sandwich leave"!

Hello Shweta,
Sunday is not counted as leave because as per law in maximum working hours in a week should be 48 hrs. after completion of 48 hrs. employees are eligible for 1 weekly off. in the situation of leave surely sunday counted as a weekly off for operatives but in case of executive depends of no. of leave if individual avail CL than sunday should be treated as w/o else days of leave.

How's ur company policy?
If there're only 5 working days for a week from Mon-Fri, then 1 day leave. (only for Monday leave).
If there's 6 working days from Mon-Sat, then 2 days leave. (Sat & Mon leave)
If he's working in rotating shift and also on PH, (like Hotel, Travel agency, F&B), then, need to check with his dept. head and get to know his Day-off.
All the best...
