Hi,
Wrt ur post, its the way that you can change & adopt to the environment. You can ask ur friend to see things differently that comes upto her which can help to get in-tune & as well gain from the current Management views.
Above all one should be very sincere at work to prove there self as this is very common in all organisations. I thnk this can sensibly made them realized to management so that value of each person be realized.
Take part in the game as a good player but not at the cost of your ownself.

Hi,
It is incorrect to say that the company has invaded the employee's security (privacy)! The company asked for the death certificate ONLY when the employee presented someone's death as the cause and the reason to justify extra-ordinary concession.
Based on what has to come to knowledge, the employee appears to be an undeserving employee who is continuing to be employed out of someone's kindness and NOT his/her OWN competence!
I am satisfied, based on the evidence provided that the company has acted fairly and it is the employee who NEEDS to be admonished and who indeed deserves to be under observation till he/she comes up as an improved version of an employee.
I rest my case.

I am totally with you that in this case the employee was wrong and therefore action should be taken against him.
However, consider a case where someone had really died......I would resent someone asking me to produce a death certificate of a dead relative. How would you feel? Certain situations need to be handled with certain caution and sensitivity.

Hi,
On hypotheticals presented by you there can be no arguments at all.
No decent company will allow and no competent HR will ever ask stupid questions especially when there is no call for that!
We respond to what is presented to us on the board and accepting the same to be factual, respond on that assumption.
All the same, I agree with what you have said.

I am, then, forced to believe that I am in the wrong forum. I thought this is where we exchange our thoughts and views on situations hypothetical or otherwise!
And I am glad that I am working with an organisation that allows HR to ask 'stupid' questions!
Thanks for the eye-opener!

Dear HR Prof
U are right u have the total right to view ur opnion . so like wise we also have the same right:
Ex: If an Employee says he is sick and takes sick leave for the day, he has to produce a medical Certificate/proof saying that he is really or else he is not entitled for the SL. now do u agree with this.
So according to my view if the said employee has to produce a proof the verify his reason.
Now it may be something emotional or personal is secondary which should not come in the way of PD functioning.
This is my View.

Dear Ppl,

My friend was also very much depressed because of office politics... and she wanted to leave the present organization...Great and caring people of citehr encouraged her and she was able to cope for sometime, now she is feeling is really low, as her newly joined boss said that she is below the others in terms of hierrachy... and she understood that she was just being utilized by him and did all the work delegated to her....i dont know how many people have faced such a situation, she feels very bad and shes crying within although shes appears happy outwardly....since I know her heart feelings...i have expressed her situation of hers on this site.....also for no valid reason, her every professional action she takes is being misunderstood as being bossy or having control over the others ...she feels miserable within as it is not really true and she herself does most of the jobs as there was minimal cooperation and minimal technical assistance .....shes is very sincere in her work and very true to her conscience...i feel so sorry for her....

Her situation seems to be really unique....if anyone has gone through such a situation pls advise us how you had coped with that situation...

Thanks & Regards,

Dear Sender,
The politics games with people generally happens in many organisation. Your friend make habit of these things for long time survival.
If the surrounding is not healthy, she can talk each other and discuss about this issue. Make them realise that they are all working in team and should co-operate each other all the time. In case of no response, talk with senior and brought their notice about happening. ultimately it hampers to smooth functioning of orgisnation and senior people held responsible.

Dear All:
As suggested by you (Peer Sahab), I have told her to speak her mind to the management.
Also, advised her to do it when she is really stabilized from her low-feeling and when she can bring this up in a better way to benefit all....
At this time, I have shared with her the various suggestions given in this thread and also have introduced this wonderful site to her.
Thank you one and all,
Regards
