Dear John
To demystify the system for you :
  • The query is about opening SALARY ACCOUNTS in banks.
  • Many banks having branches nearby, have informal tie-ups with companies.
  • Having salary account with designated banks, simplifies the electronic payment of salaries.
  • Banks offer certain special incentives to such accounts: zero balance, wherein the employee can withdraw up to the last cent; free cheque-books; free bank drafts; unlimited withdrawals, free demat accounts etc.
  • Such facilities are either free or at a discounted rates.
Generally the HR co-ordinates with the bank (who sends their representative) at the time of Induction, to facilitate the process.
It is good business for the bank, and convenience for he company and the new employee.
Warm Regards.

It depends on company policy. But in some organisation accounts,hr & admin are handled by single person here no one complains. As well as these responsibilities are divided conflicts are always there hence in such condition it depends on higher authority.

Well. Its neither Admin nor HR Job. Depends on the size of company. However, keep the principle in mind that the productivity of the system matters most. Looking from that perspective, who is closer to banking function in the company? The answer will be, Finance/Accounts, who have to always maintain liaison with Banks, whether its is for payments or for receipts. Therefore, the most logical department is Finance. Now, Finance may object sometimes as they think that induction of people is HR job. But in any case, an enlightened organisation shall always consider the induction process as and organisational requirement and all functions must play their role in making a new incumbent comfortable in hi/her new location. Now, you know where to vote for?

It all depends on the company policy. In our company, it is employees own responsibility and provide the information to finance for disbursement of salary.

Its a part of HR activity, further its depends upon the policy of the company. Regards, Jack.

This is the responsibility of HR department as well as account because basic of appointment of any employee start from HR . No role in this matter admin.

This is a job of HR still it depends on the company structure. in our company its handled by the HR not Admin. Pradeep Arora

Hi,
Normally firstly it depends upon the company structure and size. In bigger orgn. normally payroll dept. take care of the same in other case any other. But finally HR needs to get confirm that the account is opened.
