Dear
I agree with you, its matter of interpretation.
Mr Rebel explanation is ok as i think.
Note: Percentage of female victims are more than male so this laws is female oriented. Likewise maiximum labour laws for workers only so section 14 is again silent here. To maintain the section 14 rights, VD Act is in force.....isn't ??????? r u agree????

What is the source of this data?
Is not an Act has been passed for prevention of Sati? What is the frequency of incidents of Sati in India? Are male victims less than women dying to become Sati?

Do you mean to say that there were abundance of Sati cases in 1987 as compared to male victims now? Do you mean to say that all male victims are exceptions? Do you mean to say that some 60% of male suicides as compared to some 40% female suicide whose major cause is family problem are exceptions?

Sir, what do you mean by female oriented?
Supposing 49 males are victims and 50 females are victims, do you think that the law to protect victims should be female oriented just because there are more female victims?
First, nobody can figure out the number of male-victims of domestic violence. Nobody. Because there is no such reporting mechanism wherein one can find out the number of men complaining of being harassed by their wife. So those who are saying that female victims are more than male victims don't know the exact truth. Is it true that men do suffer from domestic violence but they take it in their stride thinking that it is all part and parcel of a married life, unlike women. If men are taking the abuse in their stride, nobody can say that they are not abused at all.
Please understand the difference. Dowry is understandably a female oriented law because the custom was to demand the dowry from the bride's side.
Domestic violence is unrelated to any custom. It is a general phenomena. It can never be said that only females are victims of domestic violence. Not protecting men under DV Act is actually protecting the women who are subjecting their hapless husband to domestic violence. It is violating the principles of judiciary - Delivering justice to the victims and punishing the crime. In DV Act, the innocent is denied justice and the culprit is legally protected. I will vehemently oppose against DV Act that it should be female oriented law, till my last breathe.
Why is the law not protecting the innocent and punishing the culprit irrespective of gender? Crime is not gender-based. If verbal abuse, emotional abuse and physical abuse is a crime under DV Act, then whoever has committed this crime, whether a man or a woman, should be punished. Why is the law being made in a manner which says that either of the gender (male or female) will be protected; both can't be legally protected? Why can't both be legally protected? Why not?
Is DV Act not punishing men for not allowing them to complain against their abusive wife? Is DV Act not punishing men for forcing him to live with an abusive wife? Is DV Act not unconstitutional where men are not equally protected by law even when the crime is not female oriented? DV Act is protecting those women who are and who will subject their husband to domestic violence. Those abusive women will be encouraged to harass their husband even more because they can complain against their husband but their husband can't complaint against them. Is this gender equality? NO, NO, NO.
You cannot say that DV Act is female oriented law. That is wrong and I will never accept it.
